In the early mourning hours of Sept. 9, 2013, Millville Fire Co. Sta. 30 and Millville EMS Sq. 98 were dispatched to the area of Vine St. and 4th St. for a possible working dwelling fire. Car 30 arrived with heavy fire showing from the "C" side of a 2.5 story vacant duplex. Engine 34 crews stretched a line to the rear of the dwelling and began knocking down the fire. Command reported heavy fire in the 2nd floor and attic area and requested the all hands struck. This brought all paid fire fighters to the scene, as well as, Cumberland County Fire Police Sta. 87. Ladder 32 went in service to vent the roof. Crews opened up the roof on both sides of the duplex. Ladder 32 was then placed in service to knock down heavy fire, which was now venting through the roof. After some time, the fire was brought under control. Units remained on location for extensive overhaul. Millville PD also assisted at the scene. The fire is under investigation.
